Do dehumidifiers remove odor?

A person I know that was starting to grow was mouthing off to me about his equipment. He had a 1000w light for a 12'x16' room and a canister of CO2 currently. I asked him what he was going to do about odor and he said "Oh, I'm gonna get a dehumidifier and that will take care of the odor."

I have also read a gj of someone who was growing 60 or so plants under 12 1000 watters and said he had a real powerful AC unit and that his 2 carbon filters weren't necessary because of it.

I haven't heard of this being used as an odor control device before. Does anyone have any pennies to throw in on this?

It will help to settle a bet I made with myself.
