you could graft multiple strains to one type of root stock.
id start off with a sativa that was grown big outdoors, more or less aboout the size of the root system than the actually height of the plant i would choses asativa becasue of the way the roots system grows, BIG and wid, and branchy.
any way id take some of my indoor mommy plants and take clones and root em
do like the original plant and an additional 2 strains.
any way you dont even need to root the clones but i would and after they are rooted, let em grow and then take the main stem and cut it like a wedge, or 45 degree cut and then do the same on the reciptiant plant (outdorr sativa) and line up the internal layers of the stem with the doner material and tape together reall tight and after like a month or so maybe even sooner the indoor cones you took and rooter and then cut fron their root system will be all growing on the same root stock.
so on like lets say a "T*Haze X Old school Skunk" plant by cultivators choice as the root stock, and main plant from which the others will be grafted to, and it has many branches as many outdoor plants can suport alot of branches with an abundance of food and water.
so there are 10 or so regular branches with tops and what not which are of the original plant (T*hazexskunk) and one branch that had a pure indica grafted to it, lets say we grafted wappa from paradise seeds to it, and yet another grafted branch has sk-47 grafted to it and yet another one has lets say....sour diesel ibl or something exotic like an amnesia haze from soma.
never th3e less i know im way off thopic, but in a way everyones is just joking around in this thread and having a good time and not with thier noses to the grindstone, so i proposed something that is rather unconventional and unique and would be great fun to try
lets imagine that we have a big old sativa tree that we kept from blooming for a while (indoors) like in a 10 or 7 gallon pot. then we take all the mothers we have at our disposal, and graft every strain in our stable, to this one root stock, (only like one or two grafts at a time, so stress is some what minimized) so in theory we could have like 15 different branches on this plant, and each branch is a different strain, and will mature @ different times, wtf? ok i just realized that that might be a problem ( some branches finishing in 45-50 days and others finishing in 65-75 days) so if this is the case there wont be a chance to flush right and what not so
if someone wants to try this out ( i am working on my sativa root stock, and will probably be at least 2 months before i get the plant to the stage where i think it wold accept a graft pretty quickly and the donor material would take quickly) lets try to keep whatever strains we graft to the origninal root stock kind of close with theri finishing times, so we could flush the plant without other branches being starved becaseu they arent that close to bieing ripe yet.
just a little fun thing to think about and ultimately try to do. like i said i am going to do this in like 2 months, will only be working with an ak-47 plant for rootstock and will graft 2 additonal strains to it, one will be wappa, and the other will either be speed queen, hashberry, or sadhu (last 3 all mandala strains) probably will be sadhu though.
i chose these 3 (ak, wappa, sadhu) cause they all have the same flowering time (stated by breeder) and i know the phenos i have and when they finish and they all finish in 60 days give or take a day or 2. |
