basically how this lotus, a 2 seater w/ little room, can go upwards of 200 miles on 1 charge. and the karma (designed by former head bmw lead designer) fits 4, and "hauls at least of couple of golf bags" and is designed for a 50 mi range on 1 charge. you dont put gas into the karma, unlike the lotus. and the lotus is pretty ugly inside, and out, and pretty small as well. wouldnt wana go 200 miles in that thing.
where does it say anything about the lotus going any distance on a charge? i dont see it being electric or even hybrid mentioned anywhere. but obviously a car big enough to seat 4, and have a trunk is going to weigh more and have less room for batteries than a 2 seat car. also the weight of the vehicle plays a big roll in how long the charge lasts. and finally many companies still use lead acid batteries for there electrics, instead of newer lithium ion and lithium polymer technology.

there is a group that makes a battery upgrade for the toyota prius that takes it from 50 mile range on batt only to 150 miles batt only before the gas engine needs to kick in. that being said it nearly doubles its fuel mileage based on how long the batteries can work and how hard they can work {accelerating the vehicle}

i dont think the tesla is all that proven, but there is another all electric car in the works. its pretty bad ass. its like bentley sized and supposedly performs very well.

the interior of the elise is my biggest gripe. in person they just look like trash. i really think parts of them are made of wood. and im not talkin mahogany.

electrics are cool. the energy density of batteries isnt there yet, but when they mature itll be alot cooler. electric can make torque without moving, unlike a gas engine that has to "idle" you can recover electricity during braking to recharge the batts a bit and extend range.

only time will tell... the coolest part of the elise is being parked in front of a hemp field otherwise its crap.
