Fim is great when it works, as I prefer not to top the plant. This only causes two usually identical branchs. The trick is to get about six or more by leaving somewhat more of the nub, sometimes it just grows back in with know division but blunted fan leaves. Other times it will just divide in two, not the four or six you were hoping for after a ten day wait or so to review the results.

Topping and FIM procedure are two different techniques and you would not be concerned about the multiple growth tips that merely topping affords as if you get lucky with fim.
