I would imagine it would have to root first. It would be best to prolly force sex your plant that you have now vs wait for the cutting to root then force 12/12. You can take a a garbage bag black or a paperbag and cover A branch to simulate 12/12. You should see preflowers on that branch after doing this for a bit. Is your plant sexually mature?
You would waste less time forcing the mom vs. cloning, waiting for roots ect
