Interesting Concept- Help me visualize?

Hey Guys

A friend of mine briefly mentioned that she knew someone who flowered their plants with the light in the centre of the space, rather than hanging it from above. She trained her plants to wrap around the light, resulting in very long buds and full usage of the available light.

I was hoping that some of you guys could explain how this could be done. I'm imagining that some support setup would be needed around the light to hold the plant in a trained state. Am I way off?

Do you think this is an effective method of growing?
