Get your start searching Ethylene. That is the basis for the Banana religion (whether they know it or not). Ethylene is a gas given off by ripening fruit, any ripening fruit and yes this does to some extent include your buds
. Its exposure to high levels of ethylene during germination and growth that is supposed to help it become female.
