It is a "real" chiller, it's a Current Prime and it cost about $350
i run the same chiller, 1/10th hp mini chiller. i find it hard to believe thats as cold as it will get 25g of water. you ever clean the condensor coils and make sure the fan is not on its way out? also you got plenty of airflow around that thing right? if its circulating hot air it cant cool the water. if you know an a/c guy, or if you dont just got to an appliance repair shop. they can recharge the chiller for you if need be...real simple to do. i just recharged my window a/c. little saddle taps make life a breeze

It's mostly the carrying of 5gal buckets (6 of them) out to the grow shed. My well water PH is about 7.5, I don't think the plants would like it much.
yeah i hear that, ph 7.5 can be dealt with..its the hardness that would worry me. im not saying change your water daily all the time, but you should definately change it as the coating on top builds up. that layer of funk is all the crap you are trying to get rid of. honestly you could probably skim that crap off, or just top the res off real high {overflow} and let the scum layer float right on by.

crap traps are also not hard to build. take a bottle or pitcher, cup whatever. cut the bottom off. stick it in the res so its about halfway submerged, let the return line from your chiller pump into the middle of the cup. the slime floats, there for it will mostly stay in the cup instead of floating around and reattaching itself to your roots. we had something like this called a scum skimmer.

I don't see anything that says "maintanence dose" or "unfuckshitup dose" so I can't say how much it would take for maintenance. Right now the recommended dose will get me 4 weeks per bottle. So $80 per grow plus nutes which are about $80 per grow, so $160... I guess that's not too bad...
dont quote me on this one, i think people are running 8ml/gal as a treatment dose and 2ml/gal as a prevention dose. you could always try GH flora shield instead of hygrozyme for preventive maintenance. as its about half the cost of hz.

I tried looking it up but Lowes search function sucks. Just look for the irrigation plumbing and you find the 1/2 inch inserts, male and female.
thanks, lowes is right across the street but ive never seen waht ur talking about. they are in the underground sprinkler section right?
