even a 250 is a bit small. dont get me wrong it will work, but a 400 in that spot would be much better. 3 by 3 isnt too small. what i meant by small was grows you NEED to use cfl's. you got plenty of room for hid lighting.
you can check your water with a ph meter. usually 70-120 dollars for a bunch of good ones.
to adjust it, you use ph up and down. each nutrients company almost has thier own version.
i use general hydroponics ph up powder, and it averages out to like 8 dollars a year.lol stuff will last forever.
