Hanna Pen questions

Just got my Hanna pH meter and had a couple questions.

1) The directions say to condition the electrode using H170300 for 2 hours. From other postings I did not see people doing this. How necessary is this? FYI...I have the 4.0/7.0 buffer solutions to calibrate the unit.

2) The directions say to keep the sensor moist at all times. It says "For this purpose, always keep wet the tissue inside the protective cap." I may be a moron but that makes no sense to me? I have read a few users putting "a few drops" of the 7.0 buffer solution in the cap to keep it moist. Looks to me you would need more that a few drops to submerge the cloth in the sensor with the cap. Could someone elaborate on what they do so I do this correctly.

3) How often do you calibrate the unit? Is this based on amount of use or overall time (i.e. once a month).

4) How often do you cut the sensor cloth. The directions say you can do this up to 20 times before you need to replace the electrode.

Thanks
DD
