thanks crazytrain - your input helped alot

it made me feel better about the $ i spent on the trays

i was planning to use the pellets cuz i didnt want to have to by the RW every grow and with a 4x8 tray sog - its alot of RW to dispose of every 2 or 3 months

i like the idea of the coc matt - and i already spotted it in skwirlgirls thread which i read thoroughly - good stuff
so what your saying is if i use the matt the root system will be lower in tray so flood wont need to be so high - thus = less water needed in the res each week - cool beans
i like it

my thought was with a 115 gln res it might be a ok to leave it for 2 weeks without any negativity- i figure the variation of nutes in the larger body of water vs say a 35 gln res would be less (even with more plants)
filling the res all the way should help keep ph stable also

as far as humidity - i am getting a cover for res very soon to try and min. the evaporation issue
