Good morning,
I usually go from a 16oz Solo cup to a 1 gallon for training then move along into a 3 gallon as a final but, i'm finding using FFOF I can't seem to keep them in the 3 gallon' for long as they become too rootbound before there 8-week flower cycle is complete.
This next group (LST Project #2) going in for a session under the HOT5 are being transplanted from the 3 gallons into 5 gallon shorts to see how it effects amounts come harvest time. I transplanted my Blueberry (LST gone wild from the LST Project #1) into a 5 gallon short and decided to give her an extra 2-weeks in her 8-week flower session to add more bulk.
I have a friend I gave a couple of clones to a couple of years ago and he planted them from the 1 gallon they were in to like a 6 gallon (maybe a 7) and grew some mighty large Ladies in all that acreage, I first thought "what a waste of soil & nutes" being in such a big container.. Now, here I am in similar sized but, I graduted upto this size trying to control the size of the root mass - a hard thing to accomplish in FFOF i've found.
So, now i'm thinking for my future grows as i'm still getting my system of a grow established container size will be 16oz Solo>3 gal>5 gal "short" as the final.
Forgive me for the longer than norm answer..
Have a Great day
