cancer and weed: notes from a survivor | | I am 68 and have smoked mj for 45 years every day. I am also a vegan who eats organic food. I used to smoke cigs but stopped at 40. Today, I am pretty damn healthy and strong and grow my own.
However, a few years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I tried all the alternative treatments I could afford for a solid year but it didn't help. Finally, I went back to my regular urologist, who used the Da Vinci robotic assistant to remove my prostate. All tests for over a year (psa tests) indicate no prostate cancer at all. So I guess I am cured. It was not fun. But I am delighted to be alive.
So organic food, vegan diet, mj daily---I got cancer. I suggest that before people on this thread sound off on some "information" they read or heard, they think twice. I have already read false info on this thread. Here is my advice: don't believe anything you read on a thread by a layman (except me). You should be getting medical advice from trained doctors.
Recent studies showed that marijuana in a dish can slow the metastasis of cancer cells. It did not show it could cure them. I don't know, but perhaps my cancer was restrained by my smoking from metastisizing and spreading to kill me. Maybe it did harm. I do not know. Doctors don't know. I follow the advice of Dr Koop, former Surgeon General, and use a bong to cool the smoke so it won't do so much harm.
But please don't give your two cents worth on medical issues if in fact you are ignorant as a door knob, as almost all of us are. |
