When using liquid nutrients, you adjust the ph to a certain range. Use some plant specific ph up/down. This should let the soil remain in the proper ph levels. Water outside proper ph levels tend to change soil ph. Same with nutrient salts left over.
My expierience with organics is as long as your water is between 5-7 you should be good. Unless you add something that drastically changes soil ph, such as wood ash or blood and bone meal, seems to work out fine.
I believe this has to do with the way the nutrients are used by the plants. Think of it this way. Chemicals in the proper ph are instantly available. Organics need to be broken down into a form the plants can use. This isn't done with ph, but with soil microbes. |
