Agree with EMJ. I also use GH 3 part, and do a two day flush with FloraKleen, and I do not experience any chemical taste.

As to what to use - won't argue one method or system is better than another. It's a matter of personal preference, really. I did leap into indoor growing going straight into hydro. I did have issues, but that's inexperience more than anything. Got it dialled in now, and getting good results. But yes, it was expensive as I bought a commercially made unit. Currently working on a low buck DIY aeroponic fogger system. Hoping to see some good results with that, but that isn't something I'd recommend to a beginner. Plants react quickly to water or nutrient issues in a hydro system, even faster in an aeroponic system.
