this snake scared the **** outa me and makes me not wanna grow outdoors since theres supposedly ****loads of these suckers in the woods around here. id also appreciate any info you guys have about snake in the SE Texas gulf plains (little NE of houston).
Don't go traipsing around in the woods without a basic knowledge of the wildlife you may run into... especially where possibly poisonous snakes are concerned.
Every area has there own population- find out what you are dealing with.
Go right now and Google for snakes indigenous to your area.
We can't tell you what is there- you need to check that out yourself.
Got boots? A walking stick? Walking in the woods unprepared is asking for trouble.

And as you mentioned "i rode right past this one on the trail " I have to remind you to never plant near trails- you need to go deeper.
Walking kind of deeper
