Yeah, that is pretty much it ... I know it all sounds kinds detailed but it really isn't

Set up a bubbling system, that is, for this purpose, water of around 7ph value, and an air pump, generating through an air stone alike an aquarium.
|
Yep .... although some do adjustthe water I never did

Next, U cut cut/burn holes in the lid of the bucket bubbler, and take cuttings fron your mother plant. Suspend the cuttings in the bucket, via sliding them in clear plastic tubing,to stop them from dropping in the water.
|
I used a 1/4" drill bit and it match perfectly with the airhose. I just measured them both and they match so I just drilled hole in the "tupperware" containor top

I gather the tubing fits snugly inthe hole u have burned in the lid, for ease f adjustment. Apparently, u adjust the hight of the cuttings via moving the plastuc tubing up and down, I gather,u use the leaves of the cuttings slipped through the tubing, to stop the cuttings from falling through the plastic tube.
|
Most of the holes do fit snugly for me the ones that dont I either use the bottom leaves to stop them from falling through or I just use a wooden toothpickas a "wedge" for both the cuting and the tube ... so if the cutting slides easily through then put a toothpick in there if the tube slides through use a toothpick there. Some use electrical tape to hold the tube in place but I found that with the wedge it is easier to adjust the cutting without tearing everything up.

U adjust the hight of the cuttings "cut" end, so it is just above the water level, getting sprayed by the bubles generated by the air stone at the bottom of the bucket.

U use cloning gel or powder, and apparently see good strike rate, and root growth using this method?

Yepper

I have done with and without and done with and ghot that all washed off ... the ones that have teh hormaone do better but not by much but better still

If I have it right, do u use a clear container, so u have a good view of the closeness to the water surface, the rooting end of the cuttings are positioned at?
|
I use plain ol tupperware containors (think they are like a quart at most or something) they are about 9"x6"x3" (I think) they are small though. you don't need anythign big (liek a gal) by any means ... I think it takes liek 5 full cups of water to fill mine

And if so far I am still tracking on course, does it matter if the rooting end of the cuting actually submerges?
|
Yes, it will delay rooting since the water is being drawn directly onto the cutting. I only let the cutting touch (or have it's tip submerged if it is starting to wilt. I have opened it up and had clones laying on teh top of the lid and I slide them down for a few hours and they perk right back up as nothing ever happened

If I am on track, could the bucket be simply a one gallon clear tuperwear container, with only a small amount of water?
|
Man that is kinda big I think unless of course you have a whole of clones in it ... I fit 8 just fine in the dimensions I used above .. just make sure it is too swallow or the water will evporate very quickly and you will have to always be filling it up

Sorry to ask so specifically, I have just never condsidered doing it that way, I have always simply used 1 inch cubes of rock wool.
|
No problem

The only way for me to get RW is to order it off the net which I am unwilling to do so I had to find other means and I am glad I did!!!! I would never go back

So have I understod your system rightly? and are u saying u get good strike rates they way that I have explained?
|
Yep sure do like I said I have only lost a couple of clones and that was due to neglagence oin my part

Other than that I get 100% always
The single most hardest thing is to get the damn thing out without tearing all the roots off, especially if the cutting had a fat stem to start. BE CAREFUL here they will tear right off .. .I have damaged quite a few . but not enough to do bad enough damage to kill it. I had make a slice off the hole so when I was ready to remove th clone I could stretch the opening to get all the roots out.
I am working on a new way to "hang" the cutting but need to test it out first but it is basically the idea of have a big hole (1/2") and a stopper in that that has the tubing in that. Make sense? ... so to remove all you have to do is pull out the rooted clone through the 1/2" hole (no root damamge) then remove the stopper and the tube and plant ... I just have to find the rigth size stoppers is all .... You know the kind you had in chemistry class that were balck rubber but had a hole in the middle for a piece of glass tubing? (Patent pending

)
Hope I cleared it up for ya ... I'll take a pict and post it in the Image Gallery if you like......
