CloudyBongWater is beginning to sprout.

The plant adjusts its leaves very quickly - no need to worry about it.

For the LST, I believe you tie the branch down... with its top being lower than it's highest point of the bend. Sometimes it must be lowered gradually if you are starting late. In order to tie it down, it is kind of pulled outward and opens up the plant like you said.
