Now For The Questions Quote:

After reading your thread the other day I went home and started training my lil girls. I tried on two of the 15 as to take it slow. Anyways, my question is how long do you train for before releasing her off her restraints? Then how long do you leave her off? And on again I assume is the same.

This is more of a case-by-case thing. In this particular situation, I was forced to flush, and because of that, was forced to untie her.
I suppose in an ideal setup, one would have automated flushing, where the plant never had to move. You could leave her bound, and readjust ties as she grew. Then wait till the last week or so to let up totally.
But your going to have to acquire the skill of reading what she wants. "Leaf Reading" She always says exactly what she wants/needs, and your going to simply learn how to accommodate her needs.

Have you also tries this method without letting the plant up at all? I have been LST mine since week 3-4 from germ but have never released the first wires (other than to reposition higher on the branch).
My plants seem sparse compared to yours...is that mostly because of the light intensity?
I can attach pictures if you want.

Read the above comment I made to the first question.
It could be many things. Light intensity, plant strain, experience/technique, fertigation, and environment/temperature.
Attach a pic if you would like to, ill help if I can.

Did you happen to weigh your smokable after you harvested? How much did you get? Also how many weeks of veg growth total before you started to flower? Just curious because I'm in week 5 of veg and not sure when to switch to flowering?
Help!!

Yea, 4-1/4 oz's 150% dried/cleaned. It's too bad also, because She adds the most weight during her 7th and 8th weeks. So, not too horrible for an early harvest. Not to mention the fact she was being (not to my knowledge at the time) picked from while flowering, so health wasn’t optimal with the above-mentioned toxicity I had encountered the 5th week.

One problem with your nature analogy...... the plant got stuck in LST cuz of the stupid bear, and I'm betting was stuck there for good... she didn't get let up for a bit, then knocked back down again.
Not that it really matters, anyways.
One other thing... isn't it more stressful for the plants to be repeatedly changing position... tied down, let up, tied down, let up, etc.
|
No, I'd say that in the wild she would put up with plenty of everyday small stresses. Wind blowing her around, animals wandering by. Etc. etc. As I said in the thread, small amounts of stress are fine, its bad stress that will stunt growth, and cause other problems. Like messing with the lighting hours too much, or topping a lot, lumen burn, not enough food, or too much. Too cold or too hot temperatures.
Things like this though, strengthen her. You can see how she responds. Not the same I know, but similar to human muscle. Gets broken down some, and grows back stronger. The crown is quite large by the end. Can uptake more quicker, more resistant to the elements etc etc.

I'm doing this same thing right now, growing one plant using LST, under a 400 watt HPS. Can anyone here make a guess as to the sativa/indica influence?? I think this plant has a nice sativa influence so it's a slow grower... This is a pic of her the other day, end of the 2nd week of flowering.
|
Always a tough/next to impossible task to tell. But assuming optimal condition, a more sativa dominant plant might take a maximum of 10 weeks. If it took longer, chances are there were conditions that could be altered to benefit the plant.
Certainly a mutt, but then, most are. good luck with that.

Also I was wondering, what strain of weed is that?? Looked yummy! Anyways, great job. I can't wait to see what's next.

You can call it Goofy Grape if you wish. Private strain.
Next? Yea, I suppose I cant wait either, ill be sure to document it also.
