i use the fluorex..3 of them. here is alittle data. they come in two models, which is confusing, because one (flood) and a worklight, which i can't find. the flood they rate at 6825 lumens, the worklite over 8000. i did alittle research and found they both use the same replacement bulb. hmmmm so maybe you are right...flood reflector is cutting down lumens !?
anyway, they are 6500 on the kelvin scale. and i believe, not sure, that are 127 csi. pretty sure it is higher than hps until you get to the 1000w mean lumens. or lpw...if it's real important, i'll look it up. not real familiar with csi and lpw, that kind of stuff. that's where jose' comes in.
oh, and i drilled the devil out of my first one. hole every where. but i found that just removing the plastic cover cools it down with alittle brisk breeze from a fan on it.

and yes..the sensor! a lot of people are having trouble with new fluorex' and i think that may be the culprit. not much inte instructions..especially for stoners

the sensor needs to be tape or painted so no light gets in. now i notice they come with plugs . i have been using these things since the end of january 2001..no problem. another thing..if the bulb should happen to pop loose from the socket..don't try to just snap it back in..unplug it and screw it ouy before snapping it back together. i have broke two bulbs trying to snap it back while still screwed it. $.02
since this is jose's thread...
think globally..grow locally..and grow on!!
