That has not been my experience.My 65w Fluorex may kick off SOME heat,but not near what your experience was.b4 I got a 400 hps I used a 70w hps.To me the 70w hps ran hotter than the 65w fluorex.Now I use it (fluorex) in a small veg. chamber (1.5 x 2ft) no problem.It is vented of course.
