hey - well my water tested very high for pH (over 7.7 or so) - so i got the test strips you dip in water to check for pH. however, i have also heard/been recommended on these boards to get a pH tester that has a probe to stick in teh soil. i found one - but you cant stick it in water (or so the instructions claim).
so my question is this: do the test strips in water do any good? or should i be using a probe meter to test the SOIL or both?
the soil should be tested wet, it says, but if you use water with a high pH then you seem to me to already be screwed over if you need to adjust the pH.
finally, having a hard time locating aluminum sulfate here (even at walmart) - would any acidifier work to bring down the pH?
thanks
