Excellent Plains. Just wonderful. I found that I had problems with rocks on the bottom my very first grow. It seemed as if it was not drying out as fast as it should be. Then I noticed that If I would tip my buckets over / Then water would come pouring out of the sides.... That's when I realized that not all the water was being drained. O my. I used big River Rocks. Which I figured would be great drainage. But River rocks Cause dams So that makes since.
Also On Drilling holes in your buckets. I get a 1-4 of an inch bit. And drill all over the Sides on the bottom right on the bottom. To ensure that any water trapped on the sides will be released with just a slight tilt of the Planter... I punch about 20 holes all around. And 6 huge holes on the direct bottom. 50 - 50 perlite and soil No more rocks. And drainage is wonderful. But I always find myself aiding the bucket to drain just that little extra stored on the side.
Anyways Just my .02 cents.
And if you want a good laugh at what a noob I was. Check out this thread I asked about putting rocks on the bottom. LOL Such a noob. LOL
