Ok, lets get a few things straight...
your cabinet is 2feet X 1foot X 2.5feet tall... right?
area is squared
volume is cubed
the
area of your cabinet's bottom is 2 square feet (LxW)
the
volume of your cabinet is 5 cubic feet (LxWxH)
disregard volume because it doesnt matter for lumens. all you need to care about is area.
When you get into venting, then you worry about volume... that way you can figure out how much of the air is actually getting moved.
