Now for the question........How do people get busted?
I am interested in any unusual stories about people getting busted. I am not interested in the usual girlfriend gets mad and leaves you for the Fibbies but am hoping to get (and give) some insight on the "unusual and nonsensical" ways that people get busted. (Look under the Security category under "Common Sense Security" for a great thread including some of the more common ways to get busted.)
Heres one story from Idaho: Power line breaks in a storm. The electric company sends over a team of oafs. One of them accidently breaks a window at the house- releasing a strong, distinctive smell into the back yard. Real Bummer. They busted his window, and his operation.

There was a bust in the UK because the biulding next door had been broken in to. The police in their ultimate wisdom couldn't find the point of entry, so they climb onto the roof (typical biusnees park type unit) apparently not seeing the signs saying "fragile roof, use crawling boards". The inevitable happend as he fell right into a rather large grow operation
There were also a few busts over here because the idiotic farmers had tapped into the electrical supply from an adjacent biulding, one of the grows was huge over 1k plants. what made them think next door wouldn't notice an increase in their electricity bill, I don't know
Most of the other busts over here are either coffee shop/growshop/mediweed ganja warriors who made a bit too much noise about growing or outright dumb criminals selling all sorts of sh1t from the same premises as the grow or at their home.

I swiched cable services so the company sent a guy over to set up my cable boxes. I grow in my room and the cable wires go right through my closet so the guy had to set up my cable box and wires in my room. I moved my plants in to the basement just as he came over so I didnt have time to hide the light and and all the other stuff and get rid of the smell of 4 flowering skunk #1 plants but I figured hes just a cable guy what could he know.I started talking with him and he tells me that this is just his part time job it tuned out that hes a LT in my local police Dept. It scarred the s**t out of me. I had a feeling that he knew cause the tone of his voice when he told me he was a cop. But he was cool about it and really didnt care. I was nervouse for the next couple of weeks but nothing happened. It was one of my better expeiriences with cops.

I woke up to a note on my door saying the gas had been shut off due to repairs, and that I needed to call to have service restored. Due to heat issues no one can come into my house and not realize there is marijuana growing, unless I have time to prepare. But I figured, the gas shutoff valve is way out by the road, so there would be no problem getting it turned back on with the grow areas going normally. Shortly after I called, someone arrived to turn it on. I went outside to meet him to avoid having him walk up to the door. He turned it on and then started walking towards the door, saying he needed to light the pilots. I had to think fast, and told him I had a very sick dog that didn't need the stress of strangers in the house right now. And, that I had the re-light the pilots all the time because they go out, so I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. I had to do some convincing, but he eventually let me do it myself. He did hear barking from inside the house when he pulled up so hopefully it wasn't too suspicious. I was prepared to go without gas for a day or two if necessary to keep him out.

1. friend of an acquaintence was having dinner with her family when a man, a 15 gallon container, 15 gallons of water, and several plants fell through the ceiling into their apartment.
Apparently the container had a small leak (or perhaps it was the accumulation of small repeated spills) which caused the ceiling above his closet to rot.
The man was not hurt and he paid for the damage so she never reported him.
2. just heard about this idiot. Apparently it happened in Michigan a couple of months ago.
A father got busted when his teenage son complained at school about his chores at home. Seems one of his chores was to water the Marijuana Plants.
LEO's broke down the man's door, took his son away to foster care, and arrested this closet grower with 15 plants. He apparently faces up to 4 years in prison in Michigan.

neighbors saw a kid breaking into his house through a window and called the cops. the police in persuing the burglar, broke into the house as well and while systematicly serching it top to bottom uncovered the grow. ( wich is F-ed up because at the time of the incedent the light was off and there was a stack of towles folded in front of the acces to the attic) the police came to school and arrested him. he was charged with cultivation but go off on some tecnicality ( thank god). it was so wierd to see in the local paper three days later, a picture of a fat cop standing next to the HID and the plants with the head line " police seize marijuana grow in burglary call".

I had a real close call today. I come home from work and realize the cable guy had come to install cable modem in my computer room. In that same room was my cabinet with 1 plant that im growing. Of course my grandma let the man in to do his job. My luck he has to drill rite behind my godamn cabinet. When I got home I talked to him and he didnt say anything about it. My brother said he almost saw it but he stopped him before he could.
And thats just from the 1st 4 pages!!!
