if you do a homemade aerospring you absolutely must have the inner lip on the lid.
it seems like a subtle thing that you could ignore - but without that inner lip it WILL leak -- scrub has a recent post with a pic that shows the lid on a rubbermaid 31 gal. I also made some changes like routing the pvc around the inside perimeter, and the valve on the end can then be cracked open back into the reservoir relieving pressure and making more bubbles.
