pond pumps are paddle pumps. they work by using a little internal paddle wheel which is unable to produce enough pressure (PSI) Look into large aquarium pumps if you want to do aero. You're not gonna find one for under $50. The $17 pump would work for a flood/drain or drip system, or the quasi-aero I described before
