This is a reddish light and is the more efficient of the two lights, emitting more lumens of light per watt of electricity used.
It is commonly used to supplement daylight in a greenhouse, solarium or south facing window. It is switched on during cloudy days or when the sun sets to extend the daylight hours.
It is also useful indoors if growing plants that are all in a bloom state such as chilies, strawberries or beans. Halide conversion bulbs are available that deliver halide light from a High Pressure Sodium system. Bulb Comparison Standard: This is you basic streetlight bulb. Its spectrum is orange with very little blue light. Super Agro: An agricultural bulb designed for growing plants. Although still orange it has more blue to aid in vegetative growth, and reduce legginess of plants in general. It also puts out more light per watt of electricity used. 430 Watt Super Agro System: Available in 400 watt only, it consists of a 430 Super Agro bulb and a modified ballast for optimum burning of the bulb. Hortilux: Available in 1000 Watt and 430 Watt. This bulb has a more complete spectrum with more usable light and more blue than a standard bulb.
