![]() | ok, i have pretty much all the materials that i need to start a aeroponics box, except for a pump. My question is what is the best kind of pump that i can buy that is quite and durable, yet within a sensible budget range?

![]() | Do yourself a favor and get a good one. I would make sure it has a mag drive. The mag drives make almost no noise at all, I mean none. Depending on how many sprayers and what type, will determine the size you need. Aerobuds

the low priced submersible pumps at home depot will catch your eye, but those are for fountains - you have to upgrade to get the pond pumps (meaning ok for your koi fish and water lillies) since they are not oil-filled. the pump type says direct-drive, epoxy encapsulated and with 7 sprayers I tried the 210 gph - and it was very quiet , but seemed weak when testing things out for a seperate reservoir idea- I do still wonder if it would function ok with the simple single rubbermaid set-up - - but for an extra $10. I exchanged it for the 325 gph which is plenty strong and added another sprayer and yes it is a bit noisy - about the same level as all the trickling/dripping water sound - it would be a pleasant plus for that background hummmm to be gone, and I've wondered if the quiet 210 gph (about $49.) could have been ok after all good luck.

![]() | If you know the output of your sprayers you can get a rough estimate of how big of a pump you need. Say your sprayers are rated at 25 gallons per hour and you have 6 of them. 25*6 = 150 gph. This is the absolute minimum size pump you can use. Aerobuds ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | i chose the rio 2100 for my aerospring. it came with all the useful attachments. it had enough pressure to run 14 adjustable micro sprayers along 7 ft of 3/4 pvc pipe. it is also the same pump i used for my 100gl. saltwater aquarium. cost about 70 usd. rio pumps offer a wide range of sizes. -=00=-

well it is not only the noise, but also mostly the heat generated with my pump that I am gonna switch turns out the mag pumps use about half the watts and generate less heat I had already increased my off time from 10 min to 15 min just because the direct drive pump was cooking the solution Eheim seems to be another popular pump with the aquarium folks thanks alot guys for the lead on this !!
