Any other Aeroflo 36 users out there?

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone else out there was using the Aeroflo 36? I've almost completed my first grow, less that stellar results, but that was my lack of knowledge and exprerience. The plants themselves grew well - too well, actually. Too much crowding and a couple suffocated. A couple of sativas went out of control and pretty much took over the grow space. Other issues as well. Trying to take it in stride and learn from my mistakes.

Starting a second grow, quality genetics this time. Planting in a checkerboard pattern, so only using 18 sites, but each plant has about a 12 inch circle to grow in. Hoping to do better this time around. Was curious if anyone else using these systems had any cultivation tips? Do you top, LST, scrog, or grow donkey dicks? Looking to make good things happen, but not sure which way to go.

Any words of wisdon would be greatly appreciated.

hi

I have run plenty of aeroflo 60's in my day. The best way is to go from rooted cutting directly into 12/12. DO NOT top. Trim all the growth from the bottom up to the part that will be the main cola. Also picking the right strain is crucial as well. Sativa and aeroflow are not good together, unless you are very good at pruning Good luck!

Thanks for that EMJ.

Yes, the sativas have been a constant headache. I grew from bag seed, no idea what I had planted. Big mistake. This time around I'm going with hybrids bred for indoor growing.

No clones yet - started the moms same as this grow - 17 days old. The seedlings are on their fourth node, mostly. Some have developed pretty significant roots, some haven't come through the coco liners yet. Figuring 7 to 10 more days of veg then switch to 12/12.

I guess the simplest way is to just keep the plants short and go for one big main cola.

yup that's the best way. It is hard from seed because you have so much time for growth waiting for preflowers. I would use those you have now as moms, take cuttings and as soon as they root flower them out. If you don't know the sex of the plant take notes and then cull the clones if you have males pop up. Good Luck

Quick question, I just got a aeroflo 20 from a friend he upgraded to the 60 LOL. I can't get in touch with him to ask him a few questions. I wanted to know how long do the pumps last and should I leave them on 24/7?

The pumps that come with the Aeroflos are pretty good pumps. Always have one on back up though. The nice thing about the aeroflo is that you can adjust the drain height and have the roots soak manually if the pump shits. When the roots hit the bottom of the tubes make sure there is an 1/4" of solution in the bottom of the rails at all times, then run the pump for 5 min every 20 min. Works like a charm.

Oh yeah Welcome To The Garden Blankmotif!!

Well its best to get a good timer like this:

https://www.greenair.com/browse/timers.html

or

R & M Supply, Inc. - Timers
the ArtDne

If to much scratch get 2 of these:

Hydrofarm - Dual Outlet Grounded Timer

As long is it has 15 min increments you will be fine. I have been hosed to catastrophic levels by shitty timers.

EMJ thanks for that man. I have a few of the hydrofarm timers but I figured they would be inadequate for what this system. I'll will invest in the Art-Dne timer.

One last question. When can I introduce seedlings into the system? After they have rooted in the rapidrooter?

EMj's advice on putting rooted clones in and going 12/12 is the excellent advice. If you have the space, sex the seedlings(if they're not femmed beans) and take cuts and use those for the aero. The roots grow very fast and I wouldn't want any males wasting that space and leaving any dead roots behind if you have to cull males. I grew aeroponically with homemade setups a while back and the growth is very fast. Very, very good advice on having a backup pump on hand.

One piece of advice I can offer is to regularly check your jets. I lost half a crop once because of clogged sprayers. That was a hard lesson to learn and swallow. Good luck! Keep everyone happy and the results will amaze you.
