![]() | Hello all! I just set up an aerocloner. Here it is. Square Bin. 3/4 in tubing Elite 803 pump 8 inch bubble wand. The tubing (8 pieces total in rows of 4), is approximately 4 inches long. Most of the length is above the level of the top of the bin, with perhaps a 1/2 in below. The tubes are set far apart enough. with no escapable holes besides the tubes. My question is: How far into the bin should the stem extend, should the bubbling water be allowed to touch it. Should I even use rooting powder in this system? I just want to use this to clone. Also, do I need to put a humidity tent over the clones? So far, I have 4 ( all 6 inches and above)clones in the machine and 2 are starting to wilt, 2 are staying the same. I cannot say for certain, what the difference I did to them are. Some are touching the water , some aren't, but it doesn't figure what is causing them to wilt. Anyone with experience please help.

I put the stem just barely above the surface so that the bubbles burst on the stem but not really touching the water Quote:
Yep I have and haven't and have seen better results usign the hormone than not Quote:

If mine start to wilt then I put the tip in contact with the water and they will perk back up. then I slide them above the water again and if they droop again I move them down again. Some do better than others. Also, high heat and extreme air movement will cause them to wilt quicker than normal. Hope this ya a bit..... Keep the Garden Green LB

![]() | Thanks lilbuddie! I shall try that. There is practically no air movement, and since it is winter, there isn't alot of heat. I shall have to experiment to see what is causing the wilting. I shall post results using lilbuddie's suggestions. Trying to keep the Garden Green!

![]() | Hello all! A piece of info that I found I was doing slightly wrong. I read that bigger the clone the better, so I got some pretty long pieces (6 inches and above to 9 inches). However, some state that too big is just as bad as too short. I shall attempt with 4-5 inch pieces next time. Hope that helps anyone that is slightly confused about the cloning thing. Happy Holidays to All!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Oh Yeah another convertee to the Areo Cloner ![]() When I first used it I was amazed at the ease that one can clone I mean; "Geez anybody can this" I thought when I saw the results and actually how easy it was! Yeah you kinda just need to find the right size .... This round the smallest clone 4" tops rooted faster than any of the others ... Generally you want a cutting that is 4"-6" so on an average of 5" there abouts .... But other than that you are well on your way to filling your garden with your favorite plant ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LB

![]() | gotta love aeroponics for cloning...makes life SOOOO much easier. only problem I've had w/ aero cloning happened recently - I moved and I've got the system in my basement, which is pretty damn cold. anyhow, I'd always had my aero system on the floor (because it was on the second floor...plenty warm), but I've had to move it off the ground to keep it working well. the clones just don't thrive when the water is cold...I've actually thought of putting a fish tank heater in there or something since they seem to do best when the water is fairly warm (more humid, I'd guess)...probably don't want the water too warm if you're growing larger plants in there though and you've got roots all thru the nute solution.

My cloning setup is in an unused dishwasher, so it remains fairly warm in there so I didn't worry too much about the water temp. I did lose one clone though, left her in there too long and the root development was huge! Broke her taproot on her way out of the bin, but no prob she's got plenty of sisters to fill in. heh. My one princess is 3 weeks into flowering, and OH MY! She's trying to make daddy proud! I have 1 clone in there with her (for sampling) so I don't mess with my baby! Giddy with anticipation. Got ww from DP and will be trying the 2 weeks 0 light or very little light at the end. Happy New Year Everybody!

![]() | Lilbuddie, can i clear something up please? U guys are all talking about airoponics, and/or cloning in such. I have seen plants grown where there is no water at all, the roots just hang in space and a mist sprays the roots. Or, there is the bubbler system. Like a bucket with an aqauium air pump airateing the water. The latter, I am currently experimenting with , with tomatoes, to see how it goes, and it does good! Are u talking about using a system whereby u are using a bucket full of nutrient rich water , airiated? I am very interested, because the way I started the tomatoes in there was to just hose the soil of the roots of some tomatoes bought in punnets , and then pop the roots into a little basket with expanded clay balls, half suspended in the water, turned on the air pump, and voila! I cant believe what growth they have put on in just one week. But I didnt know u could actualy clone in such a system, i was worried that the grow wool would create stem rot over time. So just to clear things up, could u tell me if u are using the bubbling bucket method , to make clones? thanx rob

It is pretty much like a mini bubbler in the way it is setup. I know I have been calling it an aerocloner but it isn't quite like a true aero unit since the water isn't sprayed out...but the bubbles do burst onto the stems which is a kinda of aeroponic approach. The cutting sit just above the waters surface and the bubbles burst onto the stems prior to rooting ... Once the roots start to form then it is time to transplant to whereever ![]() I just put them in with plain ol tap water .. no nutes, no pH adjustment (Tap pH comes out 7.0-7.2) that about it. Nothing but water ... since you ar]just intersted in rooting and not really growing. Short pieces of air tubing hold the cutting in place in the lid and above the water until the roots form.If the cutting is getting too yellow you can foliar feed with a light mix to help but don't over do it or it will put off rooting I see roots consistantly in a short time but the longest to date have been the Haze clones which took nearly 3-4 weeks to get any roots at all ... the RS (from the pict gallery) rooted in no time; maybe I saw roots after about 9 days. Does that help any? LB
