Thinking out loud ...

So after harbouring a male in my garden for six months ... I think I am finally ready to start my little breeding project

Much like Einstein and his pursuit of the Unified Theory ... my goals are lofty. But, again like Einstein, hopefully it is the things that I achieve along the way that will bring me the greatest success. I am seeking the cannabis holy grail ... that massive yielding, kick ass chronic strain that all us growers desire in our gardens. Buds that drip resin and ooze trichs at every opportunity ... buds that smell like the deepest of skunk and with just that right hint of berries and musk Buds the size of your lower leg every time

And how am I going to achieve this lofty goal? With careful selection and patience. Will I completely succeed in achieving my goals? I doubt it But I will come damn close I bet and will certainly learn a lot along the way

The first set of input genetics that I am working with is:

Male: Blueberry x Bubblegum *named "BlueBubble"*
- very, very stinky male
- medium height characteristics and robust structure.
- Good internode length
- mostly indica characteristics

Female 1: Blueberry x Northern Lights #5 *AKA "Blue North"*
- massive yields
- fruity taste and aroma
- decent high
- large plant (big stretch)

Female 2: Purple Kush
- low yields
- amazing skunky/musk smell
- mind blowing high. Couchy .. yet cerebral.
- small plant (minimal stretch)

As you can see ... the characteristics I am looking for are all there ... just spread across three strains. But I have a plan

On my first seed run ... I am crossing the male into both females:

(BlueBubble x Blue North) and (BlueBubble x Purple Kush)

The resulting two strains (Great Blue North & Deep Purple Kush) will then be selectively bred together until I stabilize the characteristics that I am looking for. I know ... that could be never I am aiming for a homogeneous strain though ... in the end, I want the males and females being almost identical in size and stature ... I want both sexes to stink to all hell too

I'll post pictures of my parent plants later this weekend

And I think ... when I am done ... I will name my new strain ... suggestions?

This is the BlueBubble male.

Nice branching, he is sturdy and strong. He smells very strong ... whenever I brushed up against him in the veg room he would stink up the area

A little closer look

This is the Blue North.

Very branchy ... but weak, saggy branches starting in the middle weeks of flower. She is around 3 weeks flower in these pics ... maybe 4

After 8 weeks ... massive yields of good smoke The Blue North is the one being hoisted. In my garden ... 4-6 oz per plant. In the foreground, you can see the same two plants pictured above ... but only at 2 weeks flower. This plant likes to be BIG

This is my Purple Kush.

She grows very *tight* compared to my other strains ... definitely a desert plant that is trying to conserve water by reducing its surface area exposed to the light. Notice how short and the plant is and how the dihedral (V) is very tight. The plant ... left to grow naturally ... barely used more square footage than the bucket it sits on This plant likes to be small

She is in love with resin though Can't seem to produce enough of it. In late flower, she really starts to show off her purple and blue hues ... I think that come winter (and lower night time temps) she will really start to show off her true colors

Nice plants, great breeding project!

I vote for "Blue Maven " for a name......after all, if you discovered a new species you'd get to put your name on it.

Thought only soma and arjian did that?

But I gotta say, I do like that name.

You have plenty of time for a name though, good luck with it.
