I know shit about marijuana botany although the ability of the plant to morph in strange ways is amazing to me. At any rate, I'm not quite sure but it seems like there could be genetic hermies, as opposed to, plants that hermie due to some sort of stress. If so, it stands to reason that the pollen from the first may result in further hermies whereas the pollen from the second group may grow perfectly normally, provided they don't undergo similar stress. But I'm just out here on the limp of my own ignorance sawing. Also, I'm not sure how you would know what caused the hermie condition unless you did experiments with clones and such.

oh i dont know what caused the hermying, im just handing out the likeliest culprit according to the environment and what was out of wack at the time.

but the likeliest culprit before, heat, has reared up its ugly head now, quite severly, but has done so without incident, at least so far.

i hear many of the south american strains, hermy, wether by default or environmental factors

good to hear...as i too had a couple hermies with seeds one with small dark junk seed and like you say a true female that gave me some beatiful mottled tiger stripped seeds which i started 13 and came out with 11 girls which look nothing like last grow.. as these are sativa and a couple kush looking ones. i did start these with low N and 14 hours of light which i have read increases female ratio. i am in almost a month of flower and looking good. no signs of hermie yet. but i thinks its too early anyhoo.

My question is will the plants that these seeds produce be hermies or will they be normal....these were PurpleWreck beans I got from the Tude.... the breeder is Reserva Pervada...

these are the seeds from the hermie plant

The Trainwreck is known to hermie.

And what Bluecheese said

Good morning,

So ... Three harvests back now, the first flower session of 2009 began to show hermies in the 6th week of flower caused by a light leak in my flower cab. Prior to this session i've never grown hermy plants all mine have remained (through cloning from parents) female only and to this day still only have female (of different strains) parents that I cut clones from.. Actually the same strains that this first session grew from. So I know none of my moms are hermy or have hermy trait.
In this first flower session of 2009 there was a light leak from the veg area to the flower area that caused them to hermy a KGB, an AK47 and a Trainwreck. Each one hermied giving me some very pretty seeds - actually got about 6 seeds from AK, maybe 10 from kgb and approx 50-75 from TW go figure.. I gave away both the kgb and AK seeds to a friend and kept all the TW for future seed stock in case I lose my TW
I've been giving away clones to cardholder friends who are starting up there grows again and sadly gave away my Trainwreck mom due to lack of paying attention. Who was it who said "we are just stoners"
I decided to try and germinate (with no special treatment) some of these TW seeds and on July 17, sowed 6 beans into some Fox Farm Light Warrior soil in a little 6-pak container and was surprised by July 20 the first two beans broke surface.. Since then this first one to brake soil was the first one to show sex "female" and so far 2 of 5 have shown female (I lost one seedling she just didn't shed her little seed pod & died) - I'm assuming the longer these take to show the better the chances are them being female.
Because males are the first to show quickly so their ready when the female comes on.
I'm hoping for an all female flower session in the next 5 weeks when these young Ladies start there first 12/12 session they'll also mark my 4th flower cycle of 2009, planning on 5 for the year this will be a first for me as i've always grown under natural sunlight on my back porch (out during the day/in at night under CFLs) one harvest per year..
Keep me in your prays that my Ladies, grow up to be Ladies.. Thanks
As of yesterday (10.5) they begun their 11th week of growth now in 1 gallon containers under 2 - 48" 6500K HOT5's strip lights
Hoping for females

Have a Great day
