Still no changes in the plant. It hasn't stretched, as indicated in the tutorial.

But there is no yellowing...a subsequent followup on another forum has given me the insight that it may take a few weeks to develop male flowers.

Nice to see you here sticky_bud

UAR, yeah, this silver got me worried about turning blue, I just need to avoid spraying it in my face.

This morning I observed the beginnings of (what I hope is) the color changing I've been waiting for. This plant isn't growing, so I think a deficiency is out of the question. Take a look for yourselves:

2 different leaves

I have also observed the growth tips tufting up as if to bud, but no clusters of calyxes or hairs are starting. Some recent information I received was that the silver wears off after about 3 weeks at which point the plant starts to produce ethylene gas and begins late bud production. This means that at the point that I'm sure male flowers are starting, I should reapply the STS mixture to ensure male flower production continues until pollen is viable.

horrible what you've done to that plant.

let see how it works. curious...wouldn't letting it flower and then leaving the light on a couple times do the trick as well??

I'm not too up on the femmed seeds, I'll have to ask a bit, the guy I just got these cali-motas form is busy doing femmed seeds right now as well. I'll ask his methods.

cool thread mane

Heya Matt, good to see you here.

Yeah, forcing a plant to undergo a sex change operation does sound rather reproachable.

I'm not using photo stress for a few reasons. Firstly, a breeder named MDanzig at ICMag made a batch of Blueberry fems using photo stress. I read through the grow reports (herm reports) and was scared shitless. So many poor, poor confused plants. And to think he sold those at the bay. Also, parentage of female seeds are best selected by choosing the ones that dont hermie when exposed to this stress. The less inclined to turn hermaphrodite naturally, the less inclined the plant will be to pass that on.

While my methods are in no way up to laboratory standards, I did photo stress the plants this pheno came from during my attempts at destroying a persistent root aphid colony. The other NL's from the same pack showed a few nanners, this particular plant did not.

Either way, I'm sure plenty of great plants have been conceived due to a pesky light leak. I'm just trying to eliminate as much potential error as possible.

I am basically going through old Overgrow breeding FAQ, info that breeders have given me, and various scientific papers to arrive at my conclusions.

Reproachable? Down right mean! Normally ... I would call "Plant Abuse Hotline" and tattle on your ass

But really cool stuff
