i got so envious of 3hound's success with her white russian that i thought i should try something super good too.
i live up here and its starting to get in the mid 30's at night now. what i want to do is breed for example, an ak47 with something early like passion one or is there something earlier? i got the impression by other threads that early varieties are just a little more mold resistant and not necessarily earlier. PLEASE, feel free to unconfuse me. i do realize that sativas are later, but what are the advantages of early X to say ak47?
back on track
should i breed the male ak with the female early X or the other way around? would the seed be better than anything i could buy? a vague question i know but any answers and opinions are ok with me. any suggestions at all are appreciated on this subject. especially what i should breed with what. thank you

Strains that come in 'early' are generally aought after as they allow extra crops (for instance in a SOG grow) to be harvested, if you save 2 weeks per cycle thats an extra flowering cycle every 4 crops.

Blueberry is an example, some phenos of blueberry come in at just on 40 to 42 days, if they are used to cross to say a sativa female or even and indica female it is often the case some of the offspring will inherit the traits to finish early...in actual fact they arn't finishing early, they just flower to a certain point and reach ripeness before the others.

thanks im glad someone cleared that up for me. i was thinking that it starts flowering early. anyway i did some reading on mendels pea plant experiment and kind of understand now. blueberry sounds good to cross with something. its potent too. what if you crossed a blueberry from dutch passion and a blueberry from another company? im sure its been asked before but would that still be a pure breed or an f1? im just a little unclear on how distant the genetics are.

Unfortunatley this is where you envcounter problems, Blueberry is notoriously unstable, selection is a real pita for all desired traits. My experiences with the phenos from Dj Shorts is that its hard to get one with the smell and resin production that comes in early. Most of the plants that fit the criteria are the more sativa influenced and take around 9 weeks or so, it kind of robs you of the advantage.

Sweet Tooth#3 and now Sweettooth#4 from SOL would be a good choice for crossing purposes as BreederSteve has done the hard job for you, he has kept the desireable traits (early finish) and made them reasonably stable.
