Hi all, this might have been answered b4, but I can't seem to find the answer. Maybe it is just a too simple question, that I don't have any idea about. Is it possible that the Female can produce seeds even without being pollenated by a male? I am into my first grow and am into the flower cycle (2 weeks) and was wondering the best way to "preserve" the plant for future means. I have taken a few clones, but I don't want to always be in a "growing cycle", and was wondering the best way to get seeds on my own (preferable without using an entire female) and store them. I have checked out the pollenation thread by lilbuddy and ozgrowa, is that the only way to go?

![]() ![]() ![]() | A female must be pollinated to produce seeds. She can be pollinated by another male (or hermie plant), or she can turn into a hermaphrodite (showing several male flowers) and pollinate herself. If she pollinates herself like this, the seeds she makes will produce more hermies. It sounds to me as if you need to pollinate only a couple of buds with a same strain male.... you don't have to ruin the whole crop just to get some seeds to perpetuate your strain.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will try that. So, best bet would be.... take a clone and do this? I can't imagine applying pollen to a plant on only certain buds (I am not skilled enough), I would think that the fans would blow the pollen all over and endanger my other females.

![]() ![]() ![]() | A clone would work. It is fairly simple to pollinate only the one branch, though. Besides turning the fan off, there are certain steps to take to insure that no extra pollen get left floating about.
