Here is what happened all, I had 4 beutiful plants about 45 to 50 days into veg. I made the switch to 12/12 and within 3 days all had shown sex. Two of the plants had pistels (a pure sativa and a 50/50 hybrid i think its a WW) The other two were making weed without pistels cause they definatly weren't balls. I thought these two were males and I was excited about trying Uncle Al's hash method so I chopped them. A week later I discover that the hybrid has balls as well as pistels. I decided to keep it because I didn't feel like waiting 12 weeks for that sativa to be ripe. LOng story short the hermie polanated itself and the sativa. The hermie is top notch though, ww like smell and looks. Will the seeds from the hermie be of any use? Will the seeds from the sativa be of any use?I'm planing on using the hermie seeds for my next grow as of right now. Thanks, panzerfunk

![]() ![]() ![]() | Hermies breed hermies. In all probability your seeds will produce hermies.

![]() | I don't think we should make such a final assumption. That's like saying males will produce only males and females will produce only females. If anything, seeds from a hermie will carry MORE of the female's traits. A good equation to remember: Female + Hermie = more female hormones in offspring than crossing straight male with straight female. When you say "hermies breed hermies," you are correct, but you make it sound like they will only produce hermies, not true. You could have also said that females breed females which would have also been somewhat true. Me, I'd far rather take my chances with a hermie seed and rather have a hermie than a straight male, anyday. The whole idea of the game is to get as much of the female's characteristics and hormones into the offspring. Hermie plus female is greater than female plus male if you go by the hormone ratio. The mother that produced an androgenous may very well produce a normal offspring the next time around. Sure, the possibility of getting a hermie is there, but the possibility of getting a hermie from straight male and straight female are there too! A hermie is nothing but a female that has just enough male in her to screw her up. I'd rather get more hermies and females than more males. One never knows what will come from a seed but I will say that chances are greater getting females (and hermies) with hermie seeds. At least a hermie has half female in it. With a male plant that's what you got, a stinkin' male. Sure, we can base our assumptions on proven genetics but nothing is written in stone. ![]() | Only one way to find out. Next panzerfunk grow ( begin mid Jan) will be all herimie seeds. All seeds will come from the hermie. I'm interested to see the male/hermie/female ratio. I'll grow 6 of em. Thanks for your replies, Pf

"The game"?? You have some strange ideas about seedmaking there.... I won't even begin to call it breeding. My game is to grow seedless bud. Can't use hermies for that. And I want stability, where breeding is concerned. Stable as in the females are xx female and stay that way. Once you let hermie genetics into "the game" you can never know for sure if you have a pure female or one who just hasn't been stressed enough to turn on you. I just don't understand why anyone would intentionally allow hermies in a breeding program.

![]() ![]() ![]() | A hermie x a female or a hermie x itself cannot produce an xx female- a pure genetic female. They can produce pistillate plants with or without staminate flowers, but they are not pure females. We're talking apples and oranges here- you're talking about growing a plant for some smoke and I'm talking about breeding, as per the Forum you are in. If hermie plants are acceptable to you, then go for it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hermies make hermies, end of story. Hermaphrodite plants are undesireable period, they should be extinguished from the genepool, not reproduced as a goal.
