Seeds are ready when the plant has dried at harvest.

Me, I planted my seeds, from a just cured bud, into the soil (ungerminated) and all nine sprouted in three days.

There is no better seed than a fresh seed. Just make sure you wait until the seeds fall off the bud with a light "shake." They shouldn't be "pulled" off as they would still be immature.

EDIT- Also, if you do not wish many seeds, it's best to pollenate about a month before harvest. This will insure that not many seeds are produced while allowing your female to use most of her energy on THC production.

You can have the best of both worlds but timing can be crucial if you do not wish to have a plant full of seeds.

Best thing to do is place a small amount of pollen on a fresh area of the plant downwind from the fan. Just try to place the pollen in an area that is not likely to spread to other parts of the plant from the fan.

The easiest thing to do is place a female with a male and let 'em go at it.

"ripe" seeds will be a rich brown color usually, you will also be able to tell they are ready because the pod surrounding the seed will yellow and split open, showing you the seed within. Look for large deeply-colored seeds that are loose in their pods... if pollenated early I have found some plants will drop their seeds as they dry after harvest; I spread white paper under my drying seedplants so I don't miss any that may fall!

Best of luck to you.

seeds take about 5 weeks..........so if you r pollinating for seed an 8 week plant then pollinate at 3 weeks into flowering....and theyll be ready at 8 weeks.........they should be nice and brown and bursting from the seed bract.........a gentle squeeze should pop it right out........make sure u dont put the seed into an airtight container right away.....i put some in a film container once and they got mouldy quick........let'em dry a bit or put 'em in an envelope......

hope that helps........i just read a bunch of stuff that covers your topic so it was fresh in my head.........
