How to get pollen
permalink

OK, here is my situation. I have a 3x6 closet grow with two 400W HPS lights. I used MH conversion bulbs during veg but I am now one week into flowering. I have 6 White Widow and 3 Super Skunk plants. From the looks of it so far I am going to have 5 femals out of the 9. I paid good money for my seeds so I want to get some seeds back so I don't have to risk ordering more. One of the males was already prematurely flowering (4-6 balls at each node) so I pulled him out already. I don't want to spend the time and money to set up a different grow closet for the males to continue flowering so this is my question. How can I get the males to produce me some pollen without leaving them in the room. I want to collect enough to fertilize a few flowers on my girls. What should I do? Could I take the small balls off of the early flowering male and crush them up into a powder and them brush a few flowers with the powder? Would this work or do I need to keep flowering the males somehow till they drop there pollen naturally? Any advice?

Oh yeah, I have never tried cloning before. I am going to make an effort to do so but with no seperate veg room I don't know what I would do with the clone while I use my lights for flowering.

I would just leave them in there... And let nature take its course... You won't get a whole mess of seeds... But I'm sure you'll get a dozen or so...

I think the pollen needs to be mature to be really effective - wait till its ready to drop pollen on its own. I transpant my males from dwc to soil and stick them outside in the garden. I collect pollen outside in a paper bag and then put the pollen filled bag on a indoor female bud.
Tip - turn off your fans when applying pollen inside or you might get a lot more seeds than you bargained for.
