Seed Maturation.
permalink

Anyone have a general timeline on how long it takes for a seed to grow and mature after pollination is induced? i Pollinated probably 4 weeks ago or so, and have seen little swelling of the calyxes.. possibly they are small seeds, i've seen my share of tiny MJ seeds. But then again, they just might not be near maturity yet.

any input?

Xlite,

Everything I've read says five to six weeks.

do you know if there is a period where the seeds start to swell? or is it a constant thing that slowly occurs over time?

from my experience, it depepnds on when the plant is pollinated. Im no expert, but all the seeds ive created took about 5-6 weeks to be mature. I've done it with a small brush just putting the pollen right where i want it on the target females, and ive also had some "accidents" which i dont care to discuss. But the best thing to do is pollenate right when theres sufficient amount of female pistles to pollinate with and then maturation rate is about 5-6 weeks or untill the seeds "rattle" in their pods. (which could end up being 1-2 weeks longer than normal, strain dependant)
