![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The straws are cut length wise and the cutting is placed inside it. Since it is slit lengthwise, the diameter is 'variable', it will collapse down just a bit to fit in the hole and it kinda springs back out to hold itself in the hole. It slides up and down quite easily but it is secure enough. Try it with a piece of soda straw and it will make more sense than my explaining it! The secret's been out for a long time; I'm just a tightwad! Smoke 'em... Pops

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just bought everything and built one. I didn't realize that I was out of the foil tape so that isn't done yet. The only duct tape I have is flex tape and it isn't light 100% light proof. I turned it on and there isn't too much mist coming up; I guess I have too much water in it. I have two 10" air stones in it and a double outlet pump. I filled it up about 2/3 of the way with tap water and let her rip.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You're not going to get a mist, just a bunch of dancing bubbles that will burst and spray the stems with oxygen rich water. What I like is the cuttings always stay green and lush. Leave the bottoms of the cuttings slightly higher than the surface of the water and wait ten days. A few layers of duct tape might be light proof, but if you still have a translucent box you will get nasties in the water. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!!! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I didn't mean mist but the water droplets from the bubbles. I didn't follow the directions and soak the stones for an hour before using them and they didn't work too well. I just tried them again, after soaking for over an hour, and they work great. I am thinking of adding 2 more air stones. I figure it wouldn't hurt and I have the extra air pump. I have 11 sites on mine.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Quick note for those following allong. I need to make the holes in the lid bigger. You'll never get the roots througha 7/32 inch hole. Spirit of Bear tells me he uses 1/2 inch holes. So, I will be modifying when I return home. peace

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OK Her's what i am gonna do. I have a big enough container that I will make this very simple. I'm going to pick up some EZ clone neoprene collars and enlarge the holes in the lid of the clone to fit them. I should be able to do ten like orginally planned. I'll see if I can get to the "store" in the next couple days. peace

OK folks, here we go. Spirit of Bear, I hope you don't mind my adjustments to your design. Went to the "store" today and picked up the neoprene replacement collars that are made for an EZ Cloner. They cost $1.00 each so I bought 10. I also picked up some Olivia's Cloning Gell and Advanced Nutrients Jump Start. Then I headed to Home Depot and picked up a 1 3/4 inch hole saw for my drill. This will allow the neoprene collars to be held in place nicely. I cut the holes in the lid of the cloner, taped the edges and put the collars in place. Then I glued down the airstone. Those books in the reservoir are holding the airstone down while the glue cures. All that is left to due is fill the reservoir, hook up the air pump, add the Jumpstart and the clones. Soon, my friends, soon. I hope this helps some folks out there. peace

I do see a couple of areas that might create a problem for you though; If I understand correctly,,, you used a 20 qt container instead of a 12 qt container……. The only problem with this is that you will need more nutes to feed them…… In a 12 qt container I only use 6 qts of water,,,, you will need 14 qts of solution (once the buds have sprung) in a 20 qt container……. I do usse a 20 qt container for a humidity dome though…… The other area I think you will have a problem (this one is real) is in using a single 10” stone to create the spray…… in the past when I used two 8” stones,,, inevitably the stone would find one place that it liked to release its bubbles,,, and the rest was pretty well useless…….. Right now I have four 4” stones in it,,,, but even those will clog everywhere but the one spot it likes…… When I do replace these stones (they are still working fine right now),, it will be with 1” stones……. I use them in the containers that I move them too when the roots are long enough,,, and use them in my 10 gallon containers, and haven’t had any complaint……. Here’s the latest batch,,, they will be allowed to stay in this setup for another week until the roots are plenty long,,,, then I’ll pull them out (with the short neoprene hose sections), and use scissors to cut the hose sections away from the plants before transferring them too hydroton……. I know it “looks” like they won’t fit through the ½” hole,,, but believe me,,,, they pull right through without any damage……… ![]() SOB
