Does a window ac unit exchange air ?
permalink

Hey all,

Quick question, i just got this 12000btu window ac for my growroom cuz the temps are off the charts big time, and i was wondering if these units also bring fresh air in or exhaust room air out, anybody knows? half the people i ask say yes it does and the other half says no its only spitting the heat out the back, confusing....

how can u do intake and exhaust with the carbon scrubber, i mean u can plug it to pull or push air through, not do both! As far as cutting a hole in the bottom of the door its a good idea but the thing is my grow needs to be stealh so i cant have this huge thing sticking out the bottom, very suspicious... so, can anyone help me get this stupid but essential information?

My AC cover is split.....on one side I have 8 inch duct work with carbon filter inside
On the other side I take in air via an intake fan.
It looks like an AC from the outside......but we all know it has no guts.

When the warmer weather comes I have a grill same length and color as my real AC and through there I'll exhaust

It depends on the specific model you are using. Some units have the ability to switch between recycle and fresh air intake modes. This information should be in the owner's manual or spec sheet that came with your unit.

ok people you know what? fuck the intake/exhaust thing, there wont be any! ill just buy a cheap propane stove and leave it on minimum to enrich co2 in the room along with the air conditioned air. Its too much trouble installing an exhaust, i only have one window and i dont wanna have a bunch of ductings coming out of it. plus itll allow me to test co2 for the first time and ill use less ac power since plants take higher temps with co2

can a cheap propane stove work jest as well as those expensive co2 generators?

if that is the case than why not exhaust all the fumes from the furnace and water heater into the room than blow it to the outside

I would say most likely yes ... that is fresh air intake, or recirculation. Units of that size, and vintage ... usually have both, smaller units often don't. Never seen a window unit that exhausts.

The answer is yes, as long as you don't put the air conditioner on Max. Like in a car, all max does is shut the vent to the outside air. There by recirculating the already chilled air in the room rather then bringing in warm untreated air. If you want fresh air you have to run the AC on regular or vent.
