Exclamation DIY: St0ney's AeroCloner
permalink

I thought I'd post a small thread on how I constructed my newest AeroCloner, so here we go!

Supplies List

1 - 30 QT Bulk Food Storage Container - $17.99
1 - EcoPlus 264 GPH Pump - $19.99
1/2" Pvc pipe, tees, and 90° elbows - $5.00
2 or 3 cans - Plastic spray paint, White & Black - $10.00
12 - Ez-Clone spray heads - 12.00
12 - Ez-Clone neoprene inserts - $20

I started out with the 30 QT Bulk Food Storage Container from Storables. I have a small 2' x 2' area so I needed a small container that was deep enough to hold the pump and sprayers. This worked out great as it has a gasket in the lit to keep it air tight, works for water too. BTW, if you never been to a Storables, they are awesome for finding the perfect storage tote, a little pricey compared to say target or walmart but have a much better selection and sizes.

I just made a simple manifold and drilled 12 holes, filling them with the Ez-cloner spray heads I picked up from my local hydro shop and connected it to my 264 GPH pump.

Here we have a bit of water in it to test it out. Im going to raise the manifold up a bit higher when I start using it.

But as you can see by all the water on the table, it works great even that low down. I might even keep it that low to keep any leaks at bay.

Oh yeah plenty of spray going on in there.

Next up is the lid, I divide it up into 12 places.

Taking a 2" hole saw I cut all 12 holes and then cleaned it up with a razor knife and some sandpaper.

Perfect! I'm using 2" net pots with the bottoms cut off so I dont hurt the roots when i transplant with ez clone neoprene inserts on top for clones or to just block the light on the empty ones.

So there it is. and no major leaks from the get go, I only have one where the cord for the pump comes in in the back, but I can fix that.

Time to paint.....

Here in the back of the container I cut a small grove for the pumps wire and is the only leak I have. I hit that with a small bit of aquarium Silicone and it no longer leaks.

Here is a better shot of it in full action. Perfect!

I took some painters tape and covered the holes in the top so I wouldn't get any paint inside. I also added a stripe to the side so I can see with a glance if it's getting low on water or not. In retrospect I should have put it on the front so I could have placed 2 in my area if I need to. not that I need that many clones, but you never know. Anyways, painted the top with more white to make it even more light proof, and the bottom black.

Here it is, all ready to begin it's new life.

And the top. this baby is ready to go!

Below are a few shots up close of the sprayers in action, awesome! These are by far the best spray heads I've bought for an aero system.

Grow on

St0ney--Hey looking good there, just make sure that the sprayers don't sit directly below the holes. I had to change mine from 3 rows of sprayers to 2 rows or the roots messed up the sprayers, yours looks a little deeper than mine is too. Thanks for sharing it.

Happy Building

Very nice St0ney!

I am not a DIY person, but even I could build your cloner - good work.

I've never built a cloner (maybe a project for next summer), but that is a real nice DIY project. Its simple, inexpensive, and looks like it should work fine. Everything a good home project should be.

Thanks Stoney! Much appreciated.

Peace.
