squirrel's closet build......
permalink

welcome to my attempt to be a carpenter, electrician and fabricator in the next few
weeks. the wifey and i just obtained a nice little remodeled house that has a finished basement. behind the stairs is a large unfinished room that houses the water heater and furnace with a lil space to boot. over the coarse of the next few weeks i will attempt to turn this small space into a grow closet/room. my buddy dropped off a huge roll of panda film and i gotta get it trimmed this week to put behind the door. i'll set this up in tent flap-like action? i don't even know if that sounded right. anyways here are some beginning pics.

the door. put a lock on her today....

there's gonna be a foot in between the furnace and the room. not too worried about service personnel as my cousin(also a grower) works for my uncle doing heating and air. he's got my back.

here's the floorspace i got to work with. it's gonna end up being 3 feet wide 3 1/2 feet deep and 7 feet tall.

how nice. an electrical outlet was already wired in here.

the lady on the left is an AK-48 who will be a mother as well as the reveg'ed Hindu Kush in the middle. the lady on the far right's a Kush that'll get into the new flower space soon.

i got the light hung and gonna put up some panda film this week to seal the door. this weekend i'll start framing up the walls.

Love it! My first thought when I started reading was about repairmen finding the grow but you've got that one covered! Sweet! Keep up posted as you continue.

What are your plans for ventilation and odor control?

well the room has a vent straight off the furnace that keeps it cool. with the light by itself it only gets to 75 degrees. i plan on mounting my stanley fan on the top or side to vent out a hood with my carbon filter on the other side scrubbing the air before it goes through. the intakes will be to the right closest to the furnace.

Dumb question, but if your intakes will be by the furnace, aren't you concerned about pulling in warm air when the furnace is running? Winter is coming, after all.

well the furnace circulates the cold air with it's blower when the a/c is on which will keep it cool in the summer. i wasn't sure if you know how one operates as i didn't in the beginning. in winter when the furnace fires up and starts kickin' out the heat, i'll turn off the outlet in that "space" that it's in and the cement floor will help keep it cool as well.
