ive been reading grow journals and various topics of diy filters. it seems like most people say that if you want a filter that aboslutely positively will work then to just buy one. everything i see on grow shops are huge filters tho. what are some places that sell smaller setups?

I'm setting a new tent grow for my moms, and went filter shopping again. Scored a Phresh 4"x 8" filter for the 4" Vortex fan I'll be using. Now I haven't used these before, but apparently they work as advertised.

These come out of Australia, and western Australia is the world's only source for the 250 million year old carbon they use. They're 1/2 the size and weight of everyone else out there, last twice as long (up to two years) and cost about the same. Link here --> Phresh® Filter Carbon Filter RC 48 Australian Activated Carbon

Available from various online hydro outlets and on ebay.

seen things like that before. im talking about for something really micro, like a small cab or two rubbermaids stacked. and a few small plants inside. those phresh filters are sold at hydro shops and even the smallest sizes i saw would take up a ton of space in a grow the size im talking about.

how well do diy filters work? my only concern is that it wouldnt work well enough and i dont want to find myself mid-flower with a filter that doesnt work well enough.

could you rig up some kind of pro hepa filter with simple inline fan from lowes or something?

EDT:

anyone have experience with these? Newegg.com - Zojirushi PA-LTC10 UltraSlim Air Purifier
you think a diy filter and one of these right by the box would be enough to KNOW that you odor protection is enough?

11.4" tall plus the size of the inline fan plus ducting (if needed) is still pretty big for a rubberamid grow...

Or you could just build a DIY carbon filter and attach it to a small pc fan for a stacked rubbermaid tote cab. Then you simply make the filter any size you need it to be.

There is even a thread around here someone put together using basic stuff you can find anywhere.

Like I said in the first post, I want something that absolutely works....I've seen a few threads where people said that their DIY filters simply didnt cut it. Thats what I'm worried about.

If there is some way to calculate what size/amount of carbon/etc you need for a guarantted odor prevention plan i would love to go the DIY route...

abolutely best filters i have seen and used. I use a big one - the 995 cfm one. they make them smaller.
