![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've been hanging around here for a while soaking up all the info I can. We are about to move to our new house and it has a 10w x 14l x 8h room at the back of the 2 car garage. It is heated/cooled and has electricity. The entry door is directly in the center. The present owners are using it as an office. I want to make it into an awesome grow room. I've never grown before, but I'm confident this site can/is teaching me pretty much all I need to know to be successful (along with Jorge Cervantes book which is on order!) I want to do the perpetual harvest method. Partioning the room is not a problem, if required, considering the amount of light that would be required for a 140 sq ft room would break me. I plan on doing a soil grow as opposed to hydro. I suppose I need a veg room/area, a flowering room/area, a seedling area and possibly a cloning area to do this right. I can easily vent into the attic through the ceiling, preferably with the squirrel cage type fans, as many as needed. Flat white paint seems to be the choice here, would KILZ do a better job than flat white? That stuff is so bright it's unreal!! What amount/type of lighting do you suggest for each area? This will be strictly for a never ending personal supply. I don't want to have to buy ever again once this room is in full swing! I'll most likely cut my teeth on bag seed before ordering from a bank. What is a good starter/newbie bank seed? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Whew, that is a lot of info to absorb, but i'll try to spit out some help. Personally I would create a flowering room with 1000 watts of switchable HPS/MH, and a veg room. That way it will be simple. You can also try out new strains all the time rather than cloning existing strains (This comes later when you have a lot of experience and find that "perfect" strain). Your veg room can use fluro, or EVL. Do you want enough to share with ALL your friends? How much weed do you want every 4 months or so? I'll check back later...

![]() | did you read the grow guide? also thats a big room for just your personal stash. if thats all you want you should build a grow box in the room. then you can just vent into the room. but the bigger the better, the more plants, the the more bud, the better you feel every day. do you know what you are going to do for lights? they can get expensive for a big room. sometimes its good to start a bit smaller and work your way big. get comfortable with what your doing. you just bought your house so your not going anywhere for a while. no rush. have fun and good luck. ![]()

![]() | I'd start small just to make sure u wont get busted and that your secuity is ok. Neighbors in the US are typically very interested about the new guy in the neighborhood. Just because you dont talk to them doesnt mean they arent talking about you. Just buy stuff that can be reused or implemented as part of a larger scheme.

I was thinking I could have 2 12 sq ft areas, one with 600w MH for veg and the other with 600w HPS for flowering. This would give me 50w per sq ft which is optimal according to the guide. Would it be neccessary to build divider walls, or could I just use some of those extra heavy shower curtains (in white of course) to seperate the 2 areas. Again, if it needs to be actual walls it's not a problem. Do the 2 areas need to be "sealed off" from one another? How many ladies can a 4 x 3 room accomodate? Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() | Heya ere !! That are has alot of potential !! I assume you are talking in feet ? as in 4ft x 3ft? You need to completely divide the areas because flowering needs totall darkness for 12hrs each cycle - Either buy some Plywood boards and seperate them or buy some pvc piping or even better some aluminium square framing - make a big square and put a layer of mylar on either side and put that in the middle. You will be able to check it and get it right seeing youll be starting only to veg - so take your time and get it right Post some pics of the Area if you can - Digital Cameras are hella cheap these days. And it helps everyone to know exacly what your dealing with. With a room that big you could be raking in 8 oz EASY every 60-70 days once its all up and running and through the first cycle so you have plants veggin and flowering.. Youde get that off 4 plants alone!! Just think of each plant around 2oz - but that depends on weather you are only flowering clones and the power of the light. Having a 600w for flowering and a 600w for veggin is a good idea - Its best to be safe with the electricity usage at the start so you dont have this giant leap of wattage - 1200w isnt too much Ide even go with a 400w MH for veg - This would be adequate for a good 6-8 plants max depending on how big you want them. I think ive cleared most of it up Be sure 2 let us know how it goes!!

We've got a killer digicam already, we don't close on the house until the 15th of Oct., so I can't provide pics of the room until we get settled in ![]() Quote:

So 1000w (600w HPS/400w MH) would be even better to keep the usage down I also am considering using fluros in all the fixtures inside the house to cut my usage and offset the rooms usage. Also, there are 2 people living in the house at present, there will be 3 of us, so increased usage over the prior owners wont be as alarming. ![]() Thanks again, and keep the info coming.

![]() ![]() ![]() | No Problem - Make sure the people you are living with know whats going on OR hide it to a severe extent If for some reason the house does get busted/raided (unlikely if your smart about it) The owner (s) will be the ones to charge - Meaning they might get charged for it and they didnt even know it was there !! So overall... Just be carefull - Its better to be wise than greedy And its better to be safe than sorry. So yeh - The less amount of electricity you use the better Also - Ide probably go with full plants and not clones if your only growing for yourslef - Police count each clone as an individual plant - Around here - (Australia) You can get tried for Intent to sell if you grow 10 or More plants - Im unsure as to the laws around your parts - But like i said .. Dont be greedy and you will be fine.
