Here is the grow in full bloom. At this point in the pictures there had been some trouble with plant. It seems that I was not flushing often enough and my ferts were a bit too low. Plant one had most of the large fan leaves yellow and fall off. Thanks to a member who has exchanged PM's with me I have a better understanding of what I was doing wrong. I will share that a bit later on. (Thanks friend you know who you are)

Here is plant one.

This is plant two it has retained most of it's fan leaves.

A random bud shot:

What I had been doing to these poor plants was letting them nearly dry out, then I would water with my full ferted water solution. What was suggested to me by an experienced member was that I water with clear water then water with the ferted solution so as not to shock them. It has made a world of difference. I also wasn't flushing as often as I probably should have.

The girls are much happier now. For those who haven't read this whole thread recently or just don't remember these plants originated from seed from some pot acquired in Jamaica. I am assuming they are sativa, they look like sativa and the high was definitly Jamaican sativa.

ben429, a fair question, I did save my cost information somewhere, I will look for it and post as soon as I find it.

S2 , I agree that this thread is not strictly following the rules for the construction forum. THe original intention was for it to simply show box construction, but it sort of evolved. Taken in full contextI believe it will be helpful for others to see the construction and first grow in one.
By your grace, kind sir, I would like this thread left here in construction and be allowed to finish this thread out with the end of the grow (about two more pics of the actual grow) and then the modifications to the grow box (which I have already begun)which will include why the modifications were made (an additional 5 to 10 pics). In my mind that will pull the construction thread to a nice close and make it valuable for the reader.

Dig Assuming this thread stays you will see the final grow pic and the post grow modifications. Stay Tuned !

If we all followed 'the rules' exactly this site wouldn't exist. Cheers to all us rebels of authority.

Hi Seven welcome to the thread.

Quote:
How did I manage to keep the box so quiet?
1 It is insulated. (It will have even more insulation after I do some modification.)

2 I bought an exhaust fan that is very overrated (CFM wise) for the box cubic feet size (which is 24 cubic feet) and am running it at low RPM. The exhaust fan is so quiet you don't hear it sitting right next to it. If you look at the picture titled "Support Equipment" early on in the thread you will see the fan in the background (it is blue). It is mounted using duct straps that have pipe insulation wrapped around them. No vibration at all.

In general careful enginnering keeps vibration down.

Quote:
and how do you control the odor?
I don't control odor, I vent it outside where it isn't noticed. I do check outside periodically for both odor and possible light leaks. Remember to be ever vigilant in the protection of your freedom. Should odor ever become a problem I can easily retrofit a carbon filter to my exhaust system.

Hope that helps.

Stay tuned for the finish of the grow and the post grow modifications.

TO finally answer your question: the cost of the box minus the fan and light was approx. $340.00 and that includes the remote thermometer, fire extinguisher, and smoke alarm.

I have a rheostat to control fan speed, that way I can run the fan at a low speed, have plenty of air exhaust and no noise. Seriously you can't hear the thing.
Excellent advice, thanks.

Well folks, here we are:
Day 130 since the box was completed
Day 105 of the grow
Day 55 of flowering (week 9)
Day 7 of 10 on/ 14 off light cycle and almost to harvest.

Under the microscope there are a number of amber trichomes (more than I would like actually) so it is time to bring this grow/thread to a close.

Here are the two ladies getting there final flush with Super Leach.
Lady #1

Lady #2

Here they are back in the grow box for their final day of 400 watt MH light.

Lady #1

Lady #2

They are approx 16 inches tall. Many of the branch buds are as large or larger than the main cola. There is a lot to be said for LST!

Glad to see your setup coming into fruition.... pun intended! By the look of your hairs, are you really ready to harvest? I am sure you know when, just didn't turn out with the pictures. BTW what strain?
