You can ground the green/yellow to the case of the p/s....

The wire acutally bolts to your computer case, which in turn bolts to your p/s.

Its just an added piece to help keep static or a small discharge neturalized.

Hey np, I think im jsut gonnasplice it saves me a trip to radio shack. and I ave all the stuff. Now im off to home depot to get some timers and maybe a humidifier, hmmm what other goodies do i need

hey iv got a similar problem. ive got a 12v fan that i think is a case fan.
a red and black wire come from it. these go into a white pastic connector. then 4 leads (yellow,2black and red join this connector to another) one is male the other female. with 4 pins/holes.

i went to the electronics shop and the best they could offer me was a transfomer with the wrong bit, so id have to buy something else cut the wires then add them together........ anything better i could use?

from what budley described, sounds like you have from the picture letter A. in that case, easiest way would be to get a power supply for a computer. But if you tell XS wich one you have for sure, His wisdom will guide you on your journey young grasshopper.

ok whoops i missed the last picture it is a and the cables go straight into the fan. i think the guy was trying to get me to buy one of the other cables and cut em all. seemed really stupid thing to do....

Ok m8, the type of connector you have is a standard 4 pin MOLEX connector.
Im assuming that one end of your cable can plug into the other. (Male on one end, and Female on the Other.)

If you have more of these fans, or you have a good source to get them, I highly reccomend sticking with them. If you buy a simple standard AT power supply for a computer your fans will just plug right into it no problem. No adapters for the fan needed.


Two things you will have watch are:

You might have to get an adapter so our 3-pronged plugs will fit your outlets....(very cheap and easy to find)
You will want to check the voltage selection on the back of the power supply....(As a general rule of thumb start on 220, if it is able to be turned on and works fine leave it there... But if you turn it on and nothing happens, then switch it to 110.)



You can get an AT power supply for almost nothing, check your local computer stores, they will usually have old pieces laying around...

Or

You can pay anywhere from $.01 to $10 on ebay and get one that will suit your needs just fine.
