it was solid information 3 years ago and its solid info today, helped me out tons, I still got a few ATX's lying around hot wired and ready to go. I wish my grow was small enough still that i could still use em, man were they quiet.

I love the collaboration of minds on this site, such a vast priceless amount of knowledge available to anyone with a computer.

thanks XS and everyone else

if you need more power...get a bigger power supply. find a bigger piece of electronics than a computer and use its power supply. find an old server power supply, copy machine power supply, or any other large piece of electronics. i currently use a power supply out of an old copy machine that provides more power than i could EVER use, everything from 5vdc to 38vdc, an extra added bonus, it only consumes/generates as much electricity as the devices connected to it will run at optimally(dont ask me how that works, the buddy i got it from told me it works that way, and my power bill confirms it)

With a simple 200watt p/s only running fans you can power 33 of the 12v .5 watt 120mm ones... (most are only .3 watt on the market) I don't think its an issue of overhead, its an issue of too many fans. It would just be easier to buy one good blower...

A bigger p/s is of little use to anyone, +400watt is the norm in most computers anymore anyway which is major overkill for setups that would use cpu fans.

i agree, for a main exhaust fan, but, with the power supply i have, i can supply 38vdc at 10 amps, i've got a couple of really impressive dc blowers that are virtually silent. ive also considered connecting other things to it besides ventilation, LED arrays when it become feasible, i 've been lookin at plans to make my own pH/tds meters, i guess it just opens possibilities for me
