![]() | Ok, so ive just finished building my grow box! I think its a rather good grow box as its outside in my shed, and it shuld be rather cold out there. Also its not very suspicious at all, as it doubles up as a workbench.heres some pics of it - Its only 1m x 1m x 0.6m ! ![]() Sorry the pics are a little big heres another with the front cover off - My question is do you think that there will be a major heat problem in this space? ( remember i live in the north of the uk, its rather cold most of the time )Also i have another pic, with the floor plan. I was going to use 2 pc fans, one pulling air in through the floor ( my shed is about 3 inches off the ground cos its mounted on slabs...) and 1 taking air back out through the floor. Im also gonna have a normal fan working to blow on the sprouts. Im looking for fans that will blow enough air in and take enough out for the temp to be right. Does any1 no where i can get cheap fans in the uk, if the 1ns i get out my local pc shop are too small... Also, what methods do you use for powering these fans ?? They have the 2 pins to attatch to the motherboard, and i assume they are about 12v - 24v...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey man! Lookin Good! Nice an stealthy! What kinda lights you gonna put in there? I don't think your space will get too hot as long as you have ample ventalation.. I too use 12v computer fans on my grow... You have a couple options for power... I took an old style AT computer power supply, cut the wire for the switch, twisted the pair together, and capped it with a wire nut. This allows the power supply to automatically turn on when plugged in, so you can run it standalone without a computer, and plug all your fans into it (This wont work with newer ATX power supplies)Your other option if you dont have an old AT power supply laying around is to go to an electronics store and get yourself an AC/DC 12v converter... Ya kno the little black boxes you plug into the wall for some electronics? Exactly that. Its gotta put out 12v DC though, so make sure and double check that. I dunno if you can order from the net over there but this place has got reeeealy cheeep fans... like dirt cheap. click on view catagories and go to fans... sales.goldmine-elec.com (copy + paste that into your browser... no www.) Peace out man and goodluck Afterburner

![]() | Cheers man! How many fans do you use, and what space u got? So how many fans you reckon i will need? I was thinking just 2, 1 pulling air in, and 1 pulling air out.... You think thats enough to keep the temp down? Ill obviously test it n stuff but its gonna b pulling cold air ( no more than about 5 degrees C at night, and about 15 degrees C) during the day.... You talking about just get the power cable that wuld usually attach from the power unit, to possibly the cd drive or the motherboard and cut the attachment, and strip the wires, twist them together and tape them up? thanks also - you couldnt find a site for cheap fans in the uk - i have looked everywhere and the cheepest is about 8 UKP or 14 bucks (120mm). And the fact that i wuld need 2..... Last edited by mcadamania; 03-18-2004 at 01:17 PM.. Reason: Also -

![]() ![]() ![]() | looks like it will be stealthy! without good venting, that smaller grow box could heat up depending... what kind of lighting are you going to use? at three feet of hieght, your going to have to do some training and get a short strain, because the light alone takes up approx a foot at the top, and the buckets of dirt your plants sits in could be a foot as well... which equals one foot of space for growth. I'd probably use smaller buckets and get a little bit of a compact light. what did you plan on doing about the short height anyway? training? really small sog? good luck!

![]() ![]() ![]() | another half a foot would help you abit more yes, but that depends on if you want to cut a hole in your garage floor. And I think I read that both intake and exhaust would be at the bottom? the problem with that would be the top area would get less new air for sure. if you want the bottom to be intake and exhaust get a small duct to run 3 feet up inside to the top part of the grow box, now the exhaust is pulling the hot air out(much better) and circulating the air more. it'll create resistance, not sure how much, but you could add one more fan the exhaust area if need be.

![]() | yeh i was planning that ..... i thought a nice bit of ducting to the top would let the cold air from outside come to the top, and then it wuld sink to the bottom again, cooling the whole area! According to the laws of physics i think thats what will happen
